That’s why I’ve simplified a list of new trends that I consider important for the user experience design industry.

Voice-based interaction 🎙

For some time now, the design of voice user interface has been charging out, this is due to the growing wave of devices that allow us to interact with our voice. VUI (Voice user interface) designer profiles have emerged to channel, plan and design the entire interaction process through voice.

Voice recognition is a reality today and is one of the main focuses in the technology industry; every day improving the hardware for this purpose.

The Storytelling ✍🏻

It’ s a tool widely used in disciplines such as marketing. The narrative of an experience allows a fact, knowledge or product to be set in the mind of the user for much longer and creates the need to live or repeat the experience or service.

As designers we must study how to integrate storytelling into the usability of the products or services we design. Every user flow or experience must have a purpose and narrative to generate a lasting experience in time.

Vibrating color palette 🎨

The use of bright and vibrant colors today is associated with prestige, exclusivity and greater value.

Therefore we must take advantage of this movement applied by major brands such as Spotify in their designs, creating interactions that take advantage of this trend.

Experience for every device 📱 💻 ⌚️

To date, a large number of “wearable” devices have been launched, with voice or multiple connection assistants.

For this reason the user experience has become omnipresent, which means designing experiences independent of the device where it is.

In other words, the mobile first or desktop concept is not enough. The device independent experience is a great challenge, with almost infinite possibilities.

These are some of the trends we will see next year. It is important to stay alert to these changes in order to generate products that fulfill the criteria to be successful and in turn help us improve as professionals.
